A few weeks ago, I was browsing Craigslist and there was a listing for a little consignment store about 45 minutes from me. There was a picture of the yellow bunk beds and a few boxes. I called, and they said that they still had them, but I was about to leave for a business trip and didn't get a chance to go down there.
Last week, when I got back, I called, fully expecting the stuff to be gone and it was still there. I took the baby and headed down. I accidentally missed the turn and went into the next shopping plaza to turn around. What to my wondering eyes did appear, but a used bookstore. Now I am not one to turn down a bookstores, so...I took out the stroller and headed in. It's a wonderful bookstore (that will keep getting my patronage). It is the type with stacks and stacks of books that are overflowing from the shelves. It had great stuff and a huge children's section (I absolutely adore old children's books). There were a ton of AG books, but they were in the 5-6 dollar range and I had most of them.
As I walked into the bookstore, I looked up on a shelf and there were a bunch of toys. Looking down at me was Kat (Stardust Classics), still in her box. There were two other idolls boxes beside her. I asked the owner if they were for sale (there were no price tags) and he took them down. It was indeed Kat, Laurel, and Alyssa in perfect condition with their accessories and one other outfit each. He said that he would give them all to me for 120 dollars, so I scooped them up to put away (the ones that Becca has now were well-loved even before I got them). I also found the name of a children's book that we had when I was a kid and I couldn't find because I could only remember the book, not the name.
Anyway, I got back in my car and headed off to the consignment store. Sure enough, there was the bunk bed for 24 bucks. It had the bedding, box, and everything. There were also some boxes on top. All of the stuff was in almost new condition with the original boxes and all of the piece...
Girl Scout Uniform, cookout birthday dishes or whatever they are called (burgers, etc.), the birthday accessories from that same set, the retired nightgown set from that time, and the twister game, etc. accessories. They were 6-13 dollars each.
When I bought the stuff, the owner of the store told me that the same woman had more stuff that she was planning on bringing in. She called and asked when it would be arriving and told me that it was supposed to come on Thursday. I asked her to call me when it got there. She called on Thursday and agreed to hold it until Friday morning. When I got there Friday morning, someone had already asked about it, but she had kindly held it.
I don't remember the exact prices of everything, but, I spent about 210 dollars. Everthing was in perfect condition with the boxes. I got...
Computer desk and chair
Computer
AGOT doll (I think it was #2, but I'm not sure)
Baxter, cage, food dish
the AGOT meet accessories
Varsity Jacket and hat
Sleeping bag
Culotte outfit
Earth Day outfit
School accessories
I think that there were a couple of other things, but I can't remember right now. Now I have to decide whether to keep the stuff hidden away or to give some of it to Becca now. I'm so excited (the woman at the store was laughing at me...).

WOW! What great finds and great deals! I think giving her a few things now would be okay, that way she can enjoy them before the holidays.
